6 9 DENR PENRO Davao Oriental Cleanup 1June 9, 2023, City of Mati, Davao Oriental- Various government agencies muster for a clean-up drive and information campaign within the Government Center, Brgy. Dahican, City of Mati, in observance of the Philippine Environment Month 2023.

Led by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR)-PENRO Davao Oriental and CENRO Mati, the activity was participated by heads and representatives from Sangguniang Panlalawigan-SPSSO represented by Vice Governor Hon. Niño Sotero L. Uy, Jr., DA-BFAR headed by Provincial Fisheries Officer Jefferson Montera, DILG headed by Provincial Director Orle A. Cabaobao, LTO represented by TRO-II Lloyd D. Bucod, NFA headed by Mr. Andre Bonn M. Sumalpong, TESDA headed by Mr. Remegias G. Timonio, PDRRMO represented by Mr. Ub M. Dujali, COA headed by Mr. Ruel L. Rubia, 1104th CDC II RCDG RESCOM-PA headed by Major Mark Anthony M. Villacorte, CMBP North represented by Mr. Jesser D. Sodusta, BFP headed by Chief Inspector Joycelyn Hernaez-Grant, DEPED Davao Oriental headed by Chief Education Superintendent Ernesto Cabanes, HPG/ PNP headed by Major Galan, DOJ-PPA headed by Senior Probation Officer Jun Mosquera, DAR headed by Mr. Crisostomo N. Bernaldez, CSC headed by Ms. Edna Plata and other concerned agencies.

The participants worked together to restore the sanitation and orderliness of public spaces through the removal of residual wastes and other unwanted garbage. The team collected a total of 64 sacks/ garbage bags with an approximate weight of 512 kilograms.

Simultaneously, a short program was conducted along with an extensive information campaign on the Department’s programs as well as the celebration of the 2023 Environment Month’s theme “No to Waste: Advancing Circular Economy to #beatplasticpollution”. Said campaign is for empowering individuals with knowledge about environment and other concerns related to it.

The celebration of Philippine Environment Month 2023 solicits call to action, emphasizing that taking care of our environment, being our common home, is ultimately a shared responsibility.

The PENR Office of Davao Oriental continues to enable the Davao Oriental Government Agencies Gearing for the Environment (DO-GAGE) Program to consistently conduct activities for the conservation and protection of the environment and natural resources. The government offices otherwise pledge to continue their efforts even beyond this celebration, integrating environmental considerations into their activities.
