Fifteen (15) BLGU Officials and fifteen (15) Bantay Gubat volunteers of San Isidro, Davao Oriental have recently undergone a capacity building workshop covering Environmental Laws and Policies. The said lecture was courtesy of DENR-CENRO Lupon’s Enforcement and Monitoring Section in response to the request of the Local Chief Executive, Mayor Anjelica T. Go of LGU San Isidro, Davao Oriental.
The activity forms part of the Communication, Education, Public Awareness (CEPA) which aims on intensifying the knowledge of participants on forestry laws, wildlife laws, climate change and other relevant policies.
The BLGU officers and bantay gubat volunteers are all playing a significant role as one of the partners of DENR in the implementation of the agency’s mandates and programs.
MENRO Mary Jane R. Yap of LGU San Isidro states that it’s a “jump-off activity of the Municipality of San Isidro for the LGU-funded Bantay Gubat Teams that will form part of the organizational structure of San Isidro.” Adding that they will assist in law enforcement through its Forest Task Force and shall request and aspire for DENRO deputation from the DENR. They also look forward to having further capacity building activities in CY 2023.
This CEPA activity is part and parcel of the DENR’s mandate to mobilize our citizenry in the protection, conservation and management of our natural resources for the welfare of the present and future generations.
