DENR-XI Regional Executive Director Bagani Fidel Evasco graced the facility of Farmer’s Development Cooperative (FARDECO), one of National Greening Program’s (NGP) beneficiaries who gained success through farming and forest trees planting.
RED Evasco came alongside Davao del Sur’s PENR Officer Alberto Bandiola and Davao City CENR Officer Juvy Hofilena on April 21, 2022 in Brgy. Cadalian, Baguio District, Davao City to convene with the organization’s officers and to have a look on its facilities.
FARDECO started as a small enterprise back in 2000 which then became a People’s Organization under NGP. The program supported the FARDECO through cash assistance that they utilized for the seedling production, site preparation all the way to planting and maintenance of their area.
Currently, through the connections and linkages with other government agencies, the organization was able to establish post-harvest facilities such as driers, fermentation facility and cacao processors to produce value-adding products. The premium-tasting tablea and cacao blocks of FARDECO has been brought abroad through exportation, a venture that they launched a few years back.
PO Chairman Nelson Tagud proudly expressed that the success of FARDECO is a shared effort of its beneficiaries to which he emphasized that they invested dedication and persistence to gain its current success and momentum.
RED Evasco likewise extolled the organization’s efforts which hits NGP’s primary goal- to rehabilitate the country’s forestlands while reducing poverty rate in the country.
